The image here was released by the FBI to aid in the capture of a man suspected of robbing a bank in the suburbs of Chicago yesterday.
How many bank robberies will have to occur, do you think, before banks stop putting the cameras up above eye level and instead place them on the desks, so they can capture faces?
A related query. Why are banks still using such terrible video cameras? The photos and clips are always granulated and blurry. I think my laptop and possibly even my cell phone could capture better video! Or do the police simply not release the top quality images?
I had the same doubt a while back (when I realised that you can’t ‘enhance’ such footage like they do in Hollywood). And I found out that they use low-res cams because of datastorage issue. High def footage would go through a 1TB harddisk in a day and disk space unfortunately is not cheap. Earlier they used micro-film or something which wasn’t very cheap either. That said I do agree with the angle of camera point of view to an extant. That’ll help catch amateur thieves but the experienced ones will map out all the cameras and find a way to remain anonymous during the robbery.

Hmmm, you seem to know a lot about bank robberies….almost too much. Do you happen to own a black hat, blue shirt and backpack with black straps?
Sorry not a cap or backpack person =D
That said, I wish I could ‘uncrop’ this pic like these guys managed to do

You know… I never really thought much about the angle issue, but now that you mention it….
