As I watched Disney’s animated movie, Tangled, over the weekend, I was struck that the entire plot would come undone if only Mother Gothel had lied to Rapunzel about her birthday. It seems odd to me that the woman who kidnapped the baby Rapunzel from her bed — not an easy feat as Rapunzel lived in a castle — would be daft enough to tell Rapunzel her real birthday. Why not change that, even adding a few years, to make sure that the kidnapped princess would be that much less likely to determine her true identity?!?
Anyway, the movie is still worth watching. Just have to suspend reality a bit … which should be easy enough since the movie is a cartoon after all.
I thought the exact same thing. Also, the parents never cut there kids hair before she was kidnapped? I think this is just a scheme by the toy companies to make a doll with really long combable hair AND ninja chop action.
