White Elephant In The Room

Welcome to the Combination Station!

Today we’re going to cover a topic which I have personally discussed with a few chickenmonkeydogians, but which we’ve found no complete solution for.  Since we talked about elephants in a post last week, it seems like a good time for this question.

The Question:

Given the meanings of the following two terms:

White elephant: a : a property requiring much care and expense and yielding little profit b : an object no longer of value to its owner but of value to others c : something of little or no value

Elephant in the room: a difficult situation that is very obvious but not discussed or addressed

How would you suggest we define the following phrase?

White elephant in the room
