Super Surprised?

Super Bowl XLIVLast night I watched the Super Bowl. I actually enjoyed it. I was surprised by that.

So often these big games, built up by weeks of speculation, scouting reports and sports writers’ focus, deliver much less than they promise. But last night was different. The Colts took a commanding lead early in the game, only to see the Saints fight their way back with hard work and imaginative play. The lead bounced between the two teams a number of times throughout the game … and the game really did go down to the last few minutes.

Wasn’t that a nice change for us all?

As for the commercials, I was underwhelmed. I thought the Google ad was good (good, not great, but good), but nothing else really caught my attention.

  1. I feel like Super Bowl ads are pretty much over-hyped year after year. In my memory the ads from long-ago Super Bowls seem like they were awesome and hilarious, but I feel like it’s been a number of years since I last found them really impressive.

I too enjoyed the game, although watching the game at 5AM in India before heading to work was a new experience for me.
