“Eighteen minute ride to downtown” is a nice promise and perhaps the type of marketing claim to put on a billboard, but a robust enough statistic to put on permanent station signage, I think not.
If you’ve regularly ridden this train line, or really any train line outside of Tokyo, you know from experience that a consistent and reliable ride time is the dream, but no reality.
Still, I’d love to get a shout out from SEPTA, perhaps I just have bad luck and this train is on time more than I think.
A quick poke around the web just taught me that industry standard holds that trains can be considered “on time” if they arrive within 5 minutes and 59 seconds of scheduled time. Seems like a long time to use on short rides like eighteen minutes.
