Have you ever looked down at your feet while wearing elf shoes and thought, gee, my feet look a lot like mushrooms today? It would appear that portobello mushrooms have a very similar shape to that of an elf shoe, if sliced in just the right way. I wonder if the original elf shoe maker took his or her cue from the mushroom.
