This Memorial Day Parade is touted as the neighborhood’s “only do-it-yourself parade!”
Since there is an organizing society, I’m not sure what makes this parade DIY. Is it because (allegedly) anyone at all can march? If you look more closely at the bottom of the flyer, you will see the tagline:
“Everybody marches. Nobody watches!”
Would this tagline make you more or less inclined to participate? And if you tried to watch, would they force you to march? I wonder how that would play out…
I’ll report back after the 4th of July Parade.
Could this tag line “Everybody marches. Nobody watches!” Be interpreted to mean that it is such a lame parade that nobody bothers to watch?
I wonder how many people participate. How many people are required for it to be a parade? If there is no minimum, and people watching is not a requisite, then aren’t we all parading, all the time?
The tagline makes me wonder if all those prisoner marches during WWII were actually just parades. Maybe people would be more inclined to participate if they thought it was a parade.
This post should have been done prior to May 25… they had one less person there now that I know about this…
