During the Christmas holiday season, I attended a church service at a Christian church in America. As I flipped through the song book to find the song where we about to sing, my eyes caught the title of a traditional Christmas song.
We can’t have the song title be the First Noël! Let’s make it ‘Nowell’ instead!
My first thought this might be the act of a true patriot (think ‘Freedom fries’) but a check of the internet seems to indicate that it might have started somewhere in England
P.S. If you check out that link, be sure to the read the Cornish version of the song. The passé (perhaps even cynical) approach of the Cornish to the arrival of Christ is pretty funny.
