When Form Does Not Follow Function

A Mattel cop car

A Mattel cop car

This really cool Mattel car of a convertible, Corvette kitted out as a K-9 Unit for the Monroeville Police Department certainly has provided hours of fun for the young boy who owns it.

But let’s look at it from a practical standpoint:

(1) A convertible cop car?
(2) A classic convertible Corvette as a cop car?
(3) Where would the dog sit?
(4) For our readers at the ASPCA, where would the dog sit safely?
(5) Who would put a dog in their classic, convertible Corvette?

What other obvious problems have I overlooked?

  1. What about the awesome factor of the dog being able to leap heroically out of the car once it’s arrived on location? And to leap back in at the end of the call.

  2. In those 1980’s cop shows, why did the main character always drive his own personal car at work? Have you ever known a real policeman to do that?
