Wear Your Slippers to Work Day

As a follow-up to our previous post about slippers (we love that we now have multiple posts about slippers; that’s the sign of a quality blog!), we thought we would post some of the photos of slippers sent to us by our readers.

We’re pleased to post two photos of the moccasin variety, sent into us by a reader in Chicago and by the US-based editor of this blog:

Moccasin slippers

Moccasin slippers

And, we’re especially enamoured of the following pair of work slippers, sent to us by a reader, based in Chicago, who works for a high-end international law firm (note the obvious pride we feel in the status of our readership):

Slippers suitable for a work environment

(Note: apologies for the low quality of this image. We’ve been assured that it was not taken with some sort of security camera, but rather with a low-quality mobile phone camera.)

On the basis of these fine pairs of slippers, we would like to suggest that there be an international Wear Your Slippers to Work Day. Think of it: comfortable feet everywhere, happier work environments, the comforts of home gracing the workplaces of the world. I bet world peace would be just around the corner after that … So, who will join us in this bid?

P.S. No one sent us photos of big, bunny slippers or cute puppy slippers. We know they exist, so come on, send us those photos!

  1. Chaps, I work from my home-office. Since no footwear is allowed upstairs, I have ‘no footwear to work day’ every day 🙂

  2. Hi Shefaly – No footwear at all upstairs? Wouldn’t it be possible to just keep a cozy pair of slippers for the upper quarters? Slippers are oh so wonderful!

  3. @ Liam: Well, there are loos upstairs too so there is separate footwear for visiting those (tiles are cold and the footwear is left outside). But otherwise, none. Sometimes I wear socks but the radiator is right near my feet under the table so I am ok.

I do wear slippers indoors, downstairs as I mentioned on the last slippers post 🙂

  4. @ Quirky Indian: That’s a great idea! I just read yesterday on the NY Times website that shorts are now acceptable work attire. Slippers and flip-flops will be so cutting-edge trendy!
