Unsuccessful Proposal

"Marry Me" scrawled in a toilet stall

While on a recent road trip along I-80, I stopped into a rest area in central Ohio. While using the men’s room, I noticed what struck me as perhaps the most-likely-to-fail marriage proposals of all time.

I feel like the proposal was likely to fail for a number of reasons:

(1) It was scrawled on the toilet paper dispenser in a men’s bathroom in a rest area on I-80 in Ohio.
(2) It was scrawled on the toilet paper dispenser in a men’s bathroom in a rest area on I-80 in Ohio.
(3) It was scrawled on the toilet paper dispenser in a men’s bathroom in a rest area on I-80 in Ohio.

Then I thought about it some more and came up with a few more reasons while “Yes, I will marry you!” is not a likely response.

(4) It would be tough to coordinate getting the beloved to use the specific stall, unless the couple have a shared favorite stall – which would be weird.
(5) The effort required to scrawl “Marry Me!” on a toilet roll dispenser seems so low that the hoped-to-be spouse is bound to read it and think “Really? That’s the best you could do?! Where the romance?!”

I imagine that there are all sorts of additional reasons why this marriage proposal won’t deliver the intended result for the asker.

  1. I’d like to thank this stall scrawler for helping to lower the bar for proposals. It’s been getting out of hand thanks to YouTube.
