The Scourge of Packing

two packed bagsPacking sucks. I am sorry to be so blunt and rude about it, but it has to be said. I loathe packing for trips – be it a day trip into London, a weekend getaway at the seaside or a full on overseas holiday. Absolutely nothing good to say about it. Detest it, loathe it, despise it. Not even the prospect of the upcoming trip tempers my dislike of packing.

There. I’ve said it. Rant over. I feel better now. Thank you for listening.

  1. Why don’t you hire someone to pack for you? I am sure they offer such services for a reasonable rate.

  2. @ Mark – You think? Someone’s gonna come over and pack my underwear and all that needs to go? Even if someone would do that, I’d still need to stay with them and tell them what to bring and what bag to put it in, etc. I wish I had genie powers so I could just wiggle my nose and have it all packed.

  3. Those bags look completely empty! You must really hate packing if you didn’t bother to pack at all, and just took empty luggage.

  4. I will admit to having other people pack for me on occassion. I hate it with every fiber of my being.

  5. @ Meg –

Amen, sister. I feel your ‘packing pain’. I don’t even like having to make a list of items to bring so that someone else can pack for me. That’s how much I dislike packing.

  6. @ Liam,

Oh no no no, I don’t make lists! My brain would explode. I explained where I was going and what I’d be doing and that was that. I’m willing to wear anything rather than pack.

  7. @ Meg – Haha! That’s brilliant. As an added bonus, you got to be surprised when you opened your bags at your final destination.

  8. Amen, brother. I hate packing almost as much as I love travel. It’s like the horse and carriage situation – one without the other ain’t nothin’. (I’d rather take the car, btw.)
