Are you old enough to you remember Big Wheels?
When I was growing up, there was a boy down the street who had the toughest, meanest big wheel on the block. He was a nice kid; he was lucky enough to have the Green Machine, which was a rear-wheel steering, practically recumbant, crazy-fast peddling big wheel!
I hadn’t see Green Machines for years – I thought they were no longer being made.
Until last weekend … Behold, the new, sleeker, meaner, Green Machine!
When I was little my parents bribed me with a Big Wheel once. It was purple and black and awesome.
what was your part of the bargain?
Haha, I had to stop sucking my thumb. I got the Big Wheel, but I don’t remember if I actually kept to my end of the deal.
For the record, the Green Machine in the picture cost £119.00! Not sure what they costs when I was growing up. Seems ruddy expensive to my wallet.
What would Bibbie or John O’Brien think?
She actually did stop sucking her thumb,
@ Jayne
Thanks, Mom. We only fairly recently threw that Big Wheel out, didn’t we?
@ Liam
I don’t know how much it cost (hopefully my mom can jump in again) but I think the fact that it survived 3 cities across America, 4 moves, and 5 kids is a testament to its awesomeness. Worthy of any price.
I had one of these when I was a kid about 30 years ago!! My parents gave it to me for Christmas, I couldn’t ride it outside for at least a month because of the snow so I rode it in the house and mastered tight corners and small spaces. It lasted about a year until the pedal crank broke. I was the only one I knew that owned one and one of my favorite toys.
where do you get the wheels when they are run out?
I’M interested in your green machine email me if you still have it.
What is the Price of Green Machine i want to buy for my Son
