Rolling Nuclear

As I was stopped at a traffic light last week, a placard on the side of a large truck caught my attention.

A placard on the side of a truck

A radioactive placard

So, that’s a little scary. A radioactive load just rolling down the street. I know, I know it probably happens more than most of us would be willing to admit, but it was pretty scary being stopped at the light next to it.

  1. You don’t have much to worry about. UN2910 specifies that the radiation flux for surface of the encasement cannot exceed half of a millirem per hour.

To put that in context, an average CT scan is about 1100 millirems.
