Friday night’s curry dinner has now sufficiently settled. (Note: the curry was really good; I just ate too much of it. I recommend the Taste of India.)
Please allow me to respond properly:
@ Shefaly – That’s the explanation I was hoping for. Otherwise, I would have felt bad buying non free-range eggs. Much appreciated. Hee-hee.
PS: I am Indian. We do not really have anything called ‘curry’. 😉 On Indian restaurants in Oxford, I think Chutneys is pretty good although it too is a Bangladeshi outfit selling Mughlai/ Punjabi food… If you are in London sometime. ping me ahead. I can introduce you to some kinds of Indian cuisine not popularly known.
@ Shefaly – I was aware that most ‘Indian’ restaurants in the UK are Bangladeshi. I was just using local terminology … apologies for any confusion or offence.
And, yes, Chutneys is outstanding. It is my local favourite.
Thanks for your offer to introduce me to proper Indian food. I’d like that very much. Recommendations welcome.
Hard to say. It is possible that they (the hens) roam free range but lay eggs in cages?
@ Liam
No way it is possible! There ARE no eggs in that carton….was this a trick question?
@ Shefaly + Conall – Too full of curry food to respond now … I’ll write more tomorrow.

@ Conall – Do you work for Tesco quality control?
@ Liam:
Glad it was of use. 🙂

@ Liam: Please to chill, Sir. My self-esteem is plenty high and I am not easily offended or upset 🙂
Besides, how can a fact upset anyone? Bangladeshis run what we call curry houses in the UK. Simple.
Try Kerala near Oxford Circus next time you are in London. Food from, er, Kerala. 🙂
Hi Shefaly – I didn’t really think you would be offended. Just being overly polite, I suppose; trying to NOT be the obnoxious American. Ha-ha.
Kerala is duly noted. It’s now on my list of places to go. Cheers for that!
