Earlier this summer, I visited a local petting zoo. While there, I strolled past the emu pen. I was struck by the description on the information sheet bolted to the fence.
Read the last line of the first paragraph closely:
Emu Dads are the best … they sit on the eggs for 8 weeks without eating, drinking or getting off the nest for any reason!
Wow! If I had powers of focus and concentration like that, I am sure that I would be a much wealthier person today!
What would you achieve if you could stay constantly on project for 8 straight weeks?
The immature little boy in me can’t resist asking…how do they go potty without going on their children in the eggs? Or because they don’t eat or drink are they not going potty? Surely cellular respiration still causes a build up of waste products in their bodies!
