One of my on-going pursuits is to learn how to say the word for “cheers” or “sláinte” in as many different languages as possible. So far, I can only consistently remember how to say it in about eight languages, but I was excited today when I found a long list of how to say cheers in different countries. Unfortunately there is no indication of how to pronounce the words.
Once I saw that first list, I searched for similar lists, however that was the most comprehensive I found. This post is a plea for help in my search. Does anyone know a good site where you can find the pronunciation of the word for “cheers” in different languages? It is as much for my own fun as anything else, but it is a good way to meet random strangers as you traverse the globe – – just by raising a toast in a common language!
