A European Odyssey with chickenmonkeydog
Several months ago one of chickenmonkeydog’s authors went out to explore South East Asia as our first foreign correspondent. About the same time, chickenmonkeydog began sending postcards to all readers who request one.
A few months later, two faithful chickenmonkeydog readers were inspired to share some of their favorite places with everyone at chickenmonkeydog. So they went on a European odyssey, and here is the story of that epic journey.
On the road, near Pilsen, Czech Republic.
Just because it is a postcard doesn’t mean you MUST try to read what it says!
Leaving Regensberg, Germany – On the Danube River:
Our first look at the intrepid traveler!
Thank you to Lauren and Pierce Bertschy for contributing all this time and effort to the world of chickenmonkeydog. We greatly appreciate their efforts and remind the rest of you that all you need to do to receive a postcard of your own is send us an email at chickenmonkeydog at gmail dot com with your mailing address.
Oh … Did you think the odyssey was over? Did you really think it was just two pictures?! My friend, this is only the beginning…more after the link … much more!
The journey continued …
The route taken:
I told you we’ve only just begun!
Going through the first of many, many, many locks on the Danube:
It seems that too many locks made our camera lose focus
Overlooking the Alps – on the way to Salzburg:
And looking much happier I am sure than while passing through all those locks on the Danube
Standing in front of Hohensalzburg Castle in Salzburg:
Our first look at the intrepid travel companion. Looks at home in front of the castle doesn’t he?
Back of Hohensalzburg Castle, overlooking the City:
Could have easily have read, “The view from my back porch”, right?
Castle in Durstein, Austria that held Richard the Lionheart on his way back from the Crusades:
The dynamic duo unites! We know who are the real “lionhearts” here
Hapsburg Palace – Home of the Hapsburg Dynasty, Vienna:
They hopped two fences and dodged three security patrols to get this one
Vienna Opera House:
The postcard decided to take our adventurers for a bit of Viennese culture
Chickenmonkeydog experienced Passion Fruit and Dragon Fruit:
Enough said
In front of the National Museum in Budapest:
chickenmonkeydog likes history too, but the postcard may not survive the swim
In a huge market in Budapest – buying Paprika, because Hungarians are big on their paprika:
Tasty!
Looking over Budapest from the National Museum:
It’s raining and miserable, but our heroes sure look happy don’t they?
Thanks again to Lauren and Pierce for the contributions to chickenmonkeydog!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pierce and I are HONORED to be your first non-editor foreign correspondents!!!
@ Lauren and Pierce
We’re proud of the fine work you two accomplished! Let’s hope to inspire other intrepid and creative uses of the chickenmonkeydog postcard.
@ Our well-traveled postcard,
Why do you look so worn out at the end of your trip, when your travel companions look so high-spirited?
