From a European perspective, it was a common practice to name the places where explorers landed after the cities, towns and countries from where the explorers hailed — or at least from where they received the money for their expeditions. New York strikes me as prime example of this practice.
So, you can imagine my concern when I stumbled across this take-out place. A restaurant today. A colony of China tomorrow?
