Part of the process of moving to a new state in the US is obtaining a new driver’s license. Previously, I was licensed to drive by the State of Illinois; now the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has issued me a license. Generally speaking, it’s a straight swap, valid license from the old state exchanged for a valid license from the new state. I am very pleased to report that the good people of the Pennsylvania DMV made the whole process simple and speedy.
But that’s not what this post is about …
While in the DMV office, I noticed several posters encouraging people to become organ donors. It’s an effort I thoroughly encourage. However, I was slightly taken aback by the wording on the campaign poster:
The banner on the poster reads: “Become an organ donor today”
Don’t most people donate their organs upon their death? I applaud the DMV for promoting donor organ awareness and for asking drivers to donate their organs upon their passing, but I think the DMV could have chosen better wording for the poster. Don’t you?
