Ever since I was a young boy, I remember loving the smell of freshly cut grass. It’s a smell of summer. A smell of childhood, of free time, or less cares and of growing up. Now as an adult, I still really enjoy that smell.
Recently, I was shredding some paper in my office. As I did so, I realized that recently shredded paper also has a unique smell to it. I can’t quite describe it, but I know that I would recognize it if I smelled it.
No, freshly shredded paper does not evoke the same fond memories as those of a freshly trimmed yard.
Smell is strongly connected with memory.
