I had a conversation with a young mother the other day that made me think about how I sleep at night. Allow me to explain.
This woman’s young son was suffering from some pretty painful chapped lips as a result of the winter weather. The boy doesn’t like the smell or touch of Chapstick and Vaseline, but he knows that they will make his lips not hurt. His ingenious solution to the problem? He asked his parents to apply Chapstick to his lips after he had gone to sleep. Brilliant!
My first reaction to the story was that the boy is clearly an out of the box thinker.
My second reaction was to wonder about whether such an approach would work for adults. Would I be able to sleep through someone applying Chapstick to me? I rather doubt it.
So, yeah, that’s what I was thinking about today.
