That’s a Lot of Rats

One pair of rats can produce up to 2,000 babies in one year.

I made a trip to the Natural History Museum over the weekend and came across following sign, which made up part of a ‘circle of life’ exhibit. The sign is a bit hard to read in the picture, so I’ve posted the text below the image.

The rat population has exploded because there is so much grain available. In times of plenty, a single pair of rats can produce up to 2,000 babies in one year.
