Just around midday yesterday, I was driving through the Lincoln Tunnel, heading into New York City. I was underground and under water, literally. I was driving under the Hudson River. My GPS device had long since given up its hunt for a satellite signal. So you can imagine my surprise when my cell (mobile) phone rang.
Whose telephone number is “1”?!? God? The President of the United States, calling from the White House?
As I was driving, my passenger answered the call — about which I was more than a bit jealous. The caller didn’t leave a name, but promised to send an email. Unfortunately, none of the emails I received yesterday indicated anything about calling me earlier in the day.
I remain in the dark as to who has such a cool phone number.
Probably the Borg. They want to add your distinctiveness to theirs.
@ Forkboy
The Borg?
A race of cybernetic collectivist alien beings that live in the delta quadrant of the Milky Way galaxy and assimilate other intelligent organisms and civilizations. Duh! I swear, if I have to explain this to one other person today, I’m going to scream!
(kidding)
Can we add an option on CMD for “like”, like Facebook? Because I really “Like” this post.
Do you think you get a lot of people calling the “wrong number” when you have such a sweet phone number like “1”?
Also, I bet the owner of this phone gets “pocket-dialed” like CRAZZZZZZZZY!
@ Jordan: Thanks for helping out there.
When they call their cell phone company and the automated thing says, “please enter your 9-digit phone number on your account” what do they type?
Another question- if he’s trying to pick someone up in a bar, and he slides over a napkin with “1” on it… do you think the chick thinks he’s blowing her off? Because she surely can’t take that seriously.
@ LaLa
Hahaha. Great points. I don’t think anyone ever would accept it if they were given “1” as a phone number.
@ LaLa,
You’ve certainly raised some practical issues with the coolest of telephone numbers. Maybe whoever it is also has a virtual number that redirects to his/her real telephone number of 1. That way government forms, potential dates and other sceptics can still be satisfied with a telephone connection.
