Spice Out of Reach

bay leaf spice bottle

“How is one supposed to get a bay leaf out without removing the top?”

A great question posed by a reader from Chicago!

Any clever suggestions for this reader?

  1. Epic polymorphic FAIL!

Polymorphism – the act of using similar fundamental designs for many purposes.

Bay leaf is a spice. Spices use this design. Therefore, this design should be used for this spice. Polymorphic failure because spice is outside design specifications.

    ERROR in line 302.

    Abort? Retry? Ignore?

  2. This spice jar functions like a “tea bag” for bay leaves. You just dump the entire jar in (with the top open as shown in the picture). The sauce in the pan percolates through the bag leaves for the desired amount of time, and then you remove the entire jar.

  3. I find that these jars are not conducive to those of us with large fingers as I inevitably break three or four bay leaves while trying to safely remove one (after removing the cap entirely). Quite frustrating.
