Late at night in a small town in Iowa, a small convenience store apologizes for being open.
(The sign in the front door reads “Sorry We’re Open.”)
_ _ _ _ _
The clerk currently working really wishes that he/she did not have to be working, so is sorry that the store is open?
The store is apologizing to a customer who knows they ought to shop, but was hoping the store would be closed, because the person really just wants to put it off for another day?
I am not sure that I would enter this shop. It looks like the kind of place that is easy enough to enter, but powerfully difficult to leave.

I wonder if the inverse of the sign says, “Yay! We’re closed!”
