I thrive on the confusion that different culture and language nuances create. In South Africa (that’s home for this chicken-monkey-dogger) we call traffic lights “robots”. So I had to re-work a previous post so that the rest of the world could understand it.
According to the always accurate and reliable Wikipedia apparently this comes from our forefathers calling early traffic lights “robot policemen” which then was truncated over time.
Think I’ll start using “robot policemen” when giving directions to tourists from now on.
