Having been in Florida not too long ago, I have to agree with you. They were everywhere. And so my question is, if they are the norm for Florida, why do they need to advertise that on the sign?
I love how “Punta Gorda” sounds sexy and exotic in Spanish, but not so much when translated to English: “fat point”
