I’d like to take a minute today to tip my hat to the inventor who decided that portable toilets (a.k.a. port-a-potties) ought to have both a toilet seat and a standing urinal.
My memories of youth tell me that it was not so long ago that portable toilets did not include this important feature. In my short lifetime there have been some great inventions. We have gone from a single phone per household to high-speed internet on mobile phones. Yet, I think that talk about the great inventions of our time sometimes focuses too much on the high-tech sector.
Today we’re giving a shout out to the folks who set about to solve a much more mundane and yet intimate design problem. Thank you port-a-potty urinal inventor!

s/he who invents the solution to comfortably and appropriately erode that gender advantage stands to win many friends and dramatically increase the efficiency of this world. have you ever seen the line for the women’s bathroom, let alone port-a-potty?
