I like the taste of popcorn and many of the different flavors that you can get it in.
I do not like how popcorn kernel skins get so devilishly stuck between my teeth and my gums and then stick around for hours irritating me while resisting my efforts to clear them out.
My first thought was, “I wish they could genetically engineer corn to not get stuck in my teeth.” And then, after just a few minutes consideration, I realized that they could do this! And my question is now, why don’t they?
A few ways I dreamed up:
(a) breed corn to have thinner kernel skin;
(b) breed corn to have kernel skins that breaks down by the enzymes in saliva;
(c) tumble corn kernels after they dry, to abrade the skins off, then re-coat the kernels with an appropriate layer to permit popping but avoid skin-stuck-in-teeth issues.
