My friend had me watch a Spanish cartoon with his three year old son and I admit, Pocoyo is an incredible gift to the world, with lots of songs and cool animals.
However, I became leery when I glanced at the right of the screen. A few questions came to my mind:
- Why would such a terrifying old lady appear in an ad next to a kids show?
- What product was she advertising?
- What adword did that company choose to juxtapose creepy lady with harmless pocoyo?
CMD readers, help us out — who is she and why oh why is she staring into the souls of unsuspecting children?!?
It is an advert for a movie: “The Last Exorcism”. This is a big problem companies are having: matching ad’s with multi-lingual media. 1) A lot of Spanish words begin with “exo” that have absolutely nothing to do with exorcism, but Google detected a match. 2) Nothing in the YouTube clip indicated that it was a children’s video (Me gusta Pocoyo ;)) 3) This might actually be a pirated version of the clip. I’m not sure how Pocoyo is distributed.
What’s more strange is that the nun on the right is smiling — perhaps she and only she knew that this would be a hilarious juxtaposition.
I saw loads of posters for this movie in London last month. Practically every Tube station that I walked through was lined with those posters.
Pocoyo posters or “The Last Exorcism” posters?
@ Jordan,
Ha-ha! The Last Exorcism posters.
