Park Your Pink Card Here!

This sign appears on the left side of an apartment building’s driveway.  The location of the sign is almost as bizarre as the sign itself.

Sign warning against parking

Caution. Hollow Sidewalk. No vehicles past this point!
Pink Card Parking Only. 30 minutes maximum
.

No vehicles on a driveway?  Only pink cards?  Are there that many cards trying to park here that both color and time needed to be limited?

  1. Doesn’t everyone know that wheelchairs and walkers are the only things around with pink cards. There was talk of allowing pets into the category but they received orange cards instead.

  2. Folks are supposed to “park” their wheelchairs or walkers here? I don’t know too many people who use a wheelchair or walker but who have the ability to “park” it and just amble away for thirty minutes.

  3. @ Conall — I once witnessed a man in a wheelchair, struggling to wheel himself through about 6 inches of snow. When I was feeling very bad for him, and about to offer assistance, he got up, walked to the back of the chair, and began pushing it himself.

Further, what exactly is a hollow sidewalk? Can you really define concrete as “hollow” and if you can, is it really concrete?

  4. @ Meaghan –

That reminds me of the Little Britain skit where Matt Lucas plays a guy who tricks his friend, played by David Walliams, into caring for him as a disabled person. Have you seen it?

  5. @ Liam,

Alas, I was unable to find a video about the skit you mentioned. Do you have direct link to that skit?
