Oh yes, that is one old school street sweeper! In fact, I was not even sure they ever looked like this, until Google Images turned up this gem.
Without the accompanying words, this icon definitely is too old-school to be of much use to me. I wonder what icons that get heavy use today will be meaningless to future generations?
I saw a sign today directing citizens to where the local fire station that had a picture of the old school open-air cab fire trucks. That may be a sign that is outdated in the future when everything is designed to be fireproof.
About 18 years ago I had recently moved to Chicago and a work-mate took me on a tour of parts of the city, including the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
While walking about we passed a record/CD store and the awning over the sidewalk included an outline of one of those old 45rpm singles inserts for playing on a standard turntable/phonograph.
My work-mate, probably 20 at the time, had no idea what the devil the insert OR a 45 was.
I felt very old.
