I recently watched this TED talk on marketing and one of the items that was talked about was this set of salt and pepper shakers from Virgin Atlantic’s First Class.
They are cute, tiny shakers in the shape of cartoon airplanes. The real charm is the engraving on the bottom that reads “Pinched from Virgin Atlantic First Class.”
I doubt that anyone with the disposable income and / or corporate backing to buy a first class ticket really needs to nick these. Nor can I see their home décor being significantly enhanced by the shakers, cut as they are.
So, maybe it’s a curious blend of entitlement and kleptomania-induced rush that’s to blame here. That got me thinking: are there any other aspects of our day-to-day lives where this might be put into play?
Stealing fruit from a neighbor’s tree that you helped plant? Employers locking up your salary checks and you trying to pinch them?
Let’s hear your thoughts.
Office supplies make excellant souvenirs.

I may have a collection of old beer bugs and pint glasses from various pubs which I have visited in the past.
I love soup spoons. Restaurants that I visit that have them out on the table may find they are missing one after I leave their establishment.
Well, those little packaged sani-wipe things usually in a pretty basket in the bathrooms of labs or doctors? They are perfect for the purse. They are SO necesary when carrying around a huge thing of wipes is not practical. I figure they are making the big bucks off my office visit. Is taking a handful so wrong? I am using them for good and not evil…
