As I drove across town to my Thanksgiving dinner destination, I caught sight of this sign for a local bakery. A sign with unfortunate transitions between its messages. Happy Black Friday at 5 AM.
Immediately I thought back to my days of working retail and arriving at work on Black Friday at 5 AM or earlier. There’d be a line of customers waiting to get into the store. The doors would open, people would rush in, some even fought other customers for their items.
It was … happy. Or something. Yeah … happy Black Friday at 5 AM. Any earlier? You’re on your own.
I do not like Black Friday at all. I’m not in a customer service job right now, but I know the pain of it. Customers of stores are terrible beings, they do not need a holiday.
