There seem to be many things in life that we falsely (and unconsciously) assume have been around for as long as humans. One that occurred to me today, as I was entering the bathroom, was the door lock.
Door locks clearly have not been around since the beginning of humans. Locks on bathroom doors probably weren’t even popular (in the US) until the last few decades. Heck, bathrooms themselves are a relatively new concept in the scope of human existence.
So remember, next time you go to lock that door, be grateful that you have a lock, ponder life with just the awkward knock, and be glad you’re not peeing off a dock.
