I was having a conversation with other day with a young boy. This youngster is learning more advanced numbers like 100, 742 and 3,019.
As we talked about numbers, I asked this young learner to tell me which numerals make up the number 103. Stumped for a minute, my young friend asked me “How is it spelled?” That question gave me pause.
Are numbers spelled?
We weren’t writing them. We were speaking them. Yes, we could have asked “What numerals comprise one hundred and three?” But that’s a clunky way to pose a question in casual conversation. There has to be another phrase. Am I missing it? Can somebody help me out?
Where’ the 7?
