Soviet made musical instruments

Another curiosity from the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, Arizona. The electric music instruments featured above were built in the USSR sometime around the Cold War era. The caption reads “Considered almost indestructible, some of these instruments boasted a power adaptor unique to the USSR and built to withstand nuclear attack.”

Gives some insights into the mindset of the makers: “Umm, just think of the mushroom cloud as pyrotechnics. Don’t worry, instrument will work just fine. What’s that? Third arm growing out of your chest? No problem, the kit comes with an extra drumstick.”

  1. I think that is nice of the makers to realize the importance of music, especially in a post apocalyptic world where everything would have been destroyed and they will need to create more.

  2. Um… they’ve been making instruments that could survive a nuclear blast for centuries, even millenia. They are called acoustic.
