Funky Change

Funky change

A crisp two-dollar bill, a shiny James K. Polk one-dollar coin, a JFK half-dollar coin, and a nickel (already spent).

I was floored to receive such a combination of funky change, for the mere occurrence and for the lack of explanation.

However, it was my own doing — I ordered cilantro pesto pasta and sangria in a Mason jar at a place that is only open for the summer.

It would have been odd if I DIDN’T receive funky change.

  1. I was told that $2 bills were quite popular at horse races and other similar sporting events since it was an easy way for people to make $2 bets. However, the people who have told me this are closer to my parents’ generation than mine so I cannot vouch for its authenticity.

  2. @ Liam – perhaps the $2 bill is so cool because it never did catch on and therefore is somewhat rare.
