This ‘found cat’ notice caught my attention.
I suppose it must happen, but the whole ‘seems to be deaf’ thing caught me by surprise.

I have to admit that I thought the cat was a brown tiger at first. I somehow missed the slash between ‘brown’ and ‘tiger’ and was curious who would catch a tiger themselves and not call the cops.
Well, it was a small, very timid and possibly deaf tiger. I’d be willing to give capturing it a go.
Go around town shouting at all the small timid cats until you find one that doesn’t react to the loud noise…then you’ve found the tiger in question!
Your blog popped up in my Google alerts as I’ve still got it set for “found cat”, even though my cat has been missing since July. Yes, he was deaf (though not a tiger coat). The cat before was also deaf, but I didn’t adopt him until he was sixteen, so figured it was due to age. This one, Oliver-Henry, was a farm kitten who got stepped on by a cow when he was young. Whether he ended up deaf as a result, or whether the deafness was the reason he didn’t get out of the way, we’ll never know. In any case, he kept sneaking into the farm house, and I tried to give him a peaceful home where he didn’t have to worry about cows. Unfortunately, once he bolted out the door, there was also no way to call him home…
@Conall-
Yes but it’s a CAT. My cat has excellent hearing (I know because she wakes up whenever I open a yogurt), but seems to be extremely selective (she pretty much ignores every single noise except when I say “yogurt”, “treat”, or “toys”).
So sure, this cat MIGHT be deaf, but my guess is… selective hearing.

@ Kimberly,
Thanks for sharing the story. When you put it that way, it becomes a very sad poster indeed.
