Facebooking on the Road

iPhone with the Facebook mobile app open

Continuing our theme of mobile phones and situations of questionable inappropriateness, we’re coming at you with a question about Facebook.

The background:
Not too long ago, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania passed a law to make it illegal to use a mobile phone to send texts, emails, Tweets and the like while driving.

The incident:
On a recent trip that took me onto the PA Turnpike, I passed a driver holding the Facebook mobile app open. Facebook?!? What could someone driving possibly need to do on Facebook while driving 60+ miles per hour? I understand the desire to text: let someone know you’re running late. But Facebook?

The question:
Help me out, what am I missing here?
