English Snow Removal Tools

Snowed under garden gnome
Last week, when much of southern England was covered in snow, I found myself struggling to clear the walks and drive around my house. So did my neighbours. Well, so did much of southern England.

As a Chicago-area native, I am no stranger to heavy snowfall. Still, I was definitely under-equipped to clear the 4 to 6 inches of heavy snow with my snow removal tools.

Broom, shovel and dust pan

How would you even start to clear 22 inches of snow with a broom, a rusty garden shovel and a dust pan?

  1. pretty sad…..looks like your dust pan is actually larger than either your broom or your rusty shovel. Perhaps you could remove the broom head from the handle and fasten the dust pan in its place creating a snow shovel that is better than any of the tools you currently have.

Yes, it is sad … and that’s why I am just waiting for Mother Nature to remove the snow. It is England after all; it will warm up in a few days. In the meantime, I have a perfect excuse for not making it to client meetings. Ha-ha!

  3. You might be better off just kicking the snow out of the way rather than using those “tools!”

  4. If you have a really tiny dog, their belly can move away the snow as they walk– don’t ask me why I know

Just be careful that your tiny dog does not eat the snow as it walks. Could be very hazardous, and lead to emergency surgery!
