Everyone has their likes, dislikes, quirks, peculiarities, issues, pet peeves, etc. I try to be respectful of individuality, but I have to draw the line when it requires the office kitchen to be stocked with 2 different kinds of paper towels.
There is the standard roll of kitchen paper towels hanging from the cabinets and then underneath that there is also a pile of looseleaf towels like you usually see in a bathroom dispenser.
This has been the set-up for the last 2.5 years (at least), and I still cannot wrap my mind around it. I finally asked a coworker and got a “I don’t know and who cares” response. Apparently no one finds this as ridiculous as I do, but how can you look at this every day and not ask why? I find it especially outrageous during an economy in which everyone is trying to cut costs. Down with extraneous paper towel purchases!
Could it be that the loose paper napkins were stolen from the kitchen on the floor below? Maybe a cut your costs by stealing approach …
Maybe it has to do with allergies — perhaps one of your esteemed co-workers is allergic to the rolls or to the loose towels. One never knows — and I think that falls under the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy!
Please tell us why you so strenuously object to personal preference? Can we not select the option we choose – as long as we do not use BOTH options?
I would use the roll of paper towels exclusively.
Do you think people use more paper towels when they have more available?
@ meghan
I don’t know about everyone else, but I know that I use more paper towels when there are more available. Absolutely.
