Describe it to An Alien…

This is a little game I like to call “Describe it to an alien.”

You take a product (or possibly even a service) and you try to describe it to an alien. Then try to justify it to yourself.

I will go first.

Object: A toaster

What it does: Slightly burns the edges of slices of bread. Yes, I know we’ve already baked the bread, which slightly burns the outside of that, but then we slice it open so we can further slightly burn the inside portion. We can even control just how much it burns the bread. Yes, as a race we’ve design and produced innumerable different ways of slightly burning bread.
