This sign is located near a hospital. Can any grammarians enlighten us as to why ‘Zone of Quiet’ is preferable to ‘Quiet Zone’?
As a grammar queen… no I cannot. And I’ve actually pondered this sign once or twice.
But then the ambulance sirens come, and I’m distracted.
I think ‘Zone of Quiet’ sounds more serious and more profound and might, perhaps, be more likely to entice visitors to observe the noise rules.
