Cogito, Ergo Suffocation Danger Exists

hotel room safeDo you ever use the little safes that hotels sometime place in each guest room so that you can lock your valuables, rather than carry them about? Normally, I don’t use them, but on my recent trip to the UK, I thought I would leave my passports and a few other items securely stored in my hotel room.

Upon accessing the safe, I spent a moment or two reviewing the various warnings posted on and in it. I didn’t want any trouble retrieving my passports, did I?

One thing I quickly noticed is that whilst the safe was large enough for a few personal effects, it wasn’t actually that big. I placed a TV remote in the safe to give you an idea of how big it was.

Yet it was the warning label on the inside of the safe door that caused me to ponder:

Suffocation danger exists

“CAUTION: Suffocation danger exists”

What?!? Was that a statement, issued as a warning to suffocation danger deniers (who refuse to acknowledge that there is ever a danger of suffocating)? Or was it advice against securing something living in the safe, for fear it would suffocate? What could be so small? Even the miniature snowman was too big for the safe?

    You must forgive Steve. Sometimes he forgets to take his medicine and comes across as rude when he is trying to be funny.

    @Steve:

    It’s Monday, so remember to take your medicine.
