In a recent conversation, my friend was discussing self-defense and it got me wondering about why one always has to play defense? What about the saying “the best defense is a good offense”?
I think it’s time the creative community that you’re a part of, the readers of chickenmonkeydog, go ahead and define self-offense.
A self-offense is when you say something and the minute it comes out of your mouth you realize it was offensive and you have just offended yourself. For example, Mel Gibson often follows up his offensive comments with comments about how offensive his comments were. He has committed many self-offenses.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the use-case:
In a court of law, “this is a clear cut case of self-offense.”
But no real application is coming to me.
“He started vigorously defending himself, so I was compelled out of concern for my safety to start attacking.”
I’m pretty sure self-offense is the shameless use of a corny pick up line. e.g. “Did it hurt?…When you fell from heaven?”
Self-offense? I can’t help but think of farting in an elevator.
But I’m pretty certain this isn’t the direction in which you were wanting us to go.
