Hmm. It looks too nice to be a British office but if it were, I would say that these are the containers of his various colleagues for whom he is to make tea or coffee. Taking turns to make tea is a British office tradition that I have never understood, esp as a person who doesn’t drink much tea or coffee anyway and definitely not during the work week if I can control it.

Oh, you’re missing out! When I used to work in an office, I loved the challenge of trying to remember who liked what kind of tea or how strong they liked their coffee or who took sugar and who took milk. Then again, maybe I liked that routine as it got me away from my work desk and I didn’t especially like my work …
