[Contrary to popular myth, an ostrich doesn’t bury head in sand to hide.] But that’s what I thought was cool about an ostrich – the ability to breathe underground.
This educational sign at the Pittsburgh Zoo triggered me to think about some other animal myths that I wish were true:
1. Penguins fall backward when they look up at airplanes.
Wouldn’t wobbly penguins be hysterical! (Enough with the cats and corgis on Youtube)
2. Rabbits like carrots!
I feel terrible for having stuffed so many non-cartoon rabbits with nothing but carrots for days on end, when instead they craved green and leafy food.
Any other myths you wish were true…for any reason?
