Why is it that so often the ‘polite reminders’ posted on public signs are written in such as way so as to not be polite? I find most such reminders as either very blunt at the least or condescending at the worst.
And then last week or so I saw the sign below:
The sign reads:
Diaper Changing Station
Just a reminder… always stay with your baby when using this table.
Wow! That reads as very polite! I think the ellipsis after ‘reminder’ and the ommission of the word ‘polite’ makes this important safety warning a well-phrased sign.
